# Geometry

The **Geometry** tab controls how the mesh is transformed, simplified, and modified before export. [Proxy](/exporting/proxies.md) options live in the [**Export**](/exporting/export.md) dialog, not in this tab.

## Transformation

<table><thead><tr><th width="211">Setting</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Scale multiplier</strong></td><td>Uniform scale factor applied to the model</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Source unit</strong></td><td>Unit of the input file (meters, centimeters, millimeters, feet, inches). Changing the unit will scale the model accordingly.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Up axis</strong></td><td>Which axis is “up” in the source file (<code>+X</code> … <code>−Z</code>)</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Origin</strong></td><td>Axis origin for the exported model: <strong>Initial</strong>, <strong>Center</strong>, <strong>Bottom center</strong>, or <strong>Top center</strong></td></tr></tbody></table>

Use these when a model arrives tiny/huge, lying on its side, or far from the origin.

## Statistics

Read-only feedback:

* Face count (and simplified face count when simplification is active)
* Width (X), Depth (Y), Height (Z) in the current display unit (See [Measurement unit in Options](/options.md))

## Simplification

Use the "*Simplification*" slider, magic wand, and preserve options to reduce face count.

Full details: [Simplification](/simplification.md)

## Edges

SketchUp-style edge treatment for the exported model:

<table><thead><tr><th width="309">Setting</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Smooth</strong> / <strong>Unsmooth all the edges</strong></td><td>Icon shortcuts</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Overwrite input edges</strong></td><td>Apply Transmutr’s edge settings instead of keeping original edges</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Angle between normals</strong></td><td>Soften/smooth beyond this angle (0–180°)</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Soften coplanar edges</strong></td><td>Hide seams between coplanar faces</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Hide all edges</strong></td><td>Make all edges invisible in the exported SketchUp file</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Some preview modes do not show SketchUp edges. Switch to a mode that displays edges if you need to verify softening visually.
{% endhint %}

## Batch conversion (Studio / Creator)

When multiple models are loaded, geometry modifiers are shared by default. Use the share / override control on individual settings to customize one tab. See [Batch conversion](/batch-conversion.md)
