# Floating licenses

{% hint style="success" icon="rocket-launch" %}
**Studio / Creator** feature. Floating seats are included with Transmutr Studio and Transmutr Creator.
{% endhint %}

A floating license lets **multiple users share a pool of seats**. Only the number of concurrent active sessions is limited, not the number of installed machines.

## How it works

1. Your organization owns a Studio or Creator license with a fixed number of **seats**.
2. When someone launches Transmutr and activates/uses the license, one seat is taken.
3. When they quit or deactivate, the seat returns to the pool for someone else.
4. If all seats are in use, Transmutr reports that **no seat is available**.

## Good fit for

* Teams that work across time zones
* Offices where not everyone uses Transmutr all day
* Shared workstations that should not each need a node-locked seat

## Managing seats

* Open **Options → Manage License** / **Manage Licenses Online** to review activations.
* If a machine crashed without releasing a seat, deactivate it from the Lindalë account page or use offline deactivation when needed.
* See How can I reset my license activations?

## Upgrade

If you already have an Artist license, use **Upgrade to Transmutr Studio** in [Options](/options.md) (or purchase Creator). New purchases can choose Studio or Creator directly from the [website](https://lindale.io/transmutr#buy).
