# Viewport

The viewport is the live preview of the loaded model or material.

## Camera controls

<table><thead><tr><th width="194">Action</th><th>Control</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Orbit</td><td>Middle mouse (SketchUp-style)</td></tr><tr><td>Pan</td><td>Shift + middle mouse</td></tr><tr><td>Zoom</td><td>Scroll wheel</td></tr><tr><td>Zoom extents</td><td><strong>Zoom extents</strong> button</td></tr><tr><td>Free-look</td><td>Hold <strong>right mouse button</strong> and move the mouse</td></tr><tr><td>Fly</td><td><strong>W / A / S / D</strong> while navigating</td></tr><tr><td>Fly speed</td><td><strong>Up / Down</strong> arrow keys</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Preview modes (geometry models)

<table><thead><tr><th width="191">Mode</th><th>What you see</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>SketchUp</strong></td><td>SketchUp-like shaded view with edges when applicable</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Monochrome</strong></td><td>Clay-like look that hides materials so you can judge shape and volume</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Render</strong></td><td>Photorealistic PBR preview suitable for checking materials</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Environments (Render mode)

In **Render** mode, pick an environment to affect the lighting: Apartment, City, Dawn, Forest, Lobby, Night, Park, Studio, Sunset, Warehouse.

## Display toggles

<table><thead><tr><th width="257">Toggle</th><th>Purpose</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Show the scale figure</strong></td><td>SketchUp-style figure for scale reference</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Show wireframe</strong></td><td>Overlay all mesh edges to check the topology</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Show blobs</strong></td><td>Visualize blob volumes used for the Blobs proxy type</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Materials-only preview

When you convert [textures without geometry](/importing/materials-only.md), the viewport offers **Sphere** and **Plane** previews instead of a mesh. Geometry-only toggles (wireframe, scale figure, blobs, Outliner) are hidden.

## Interaction with materials

* With the **Materials** tab active, click on an object to identify its materials.
* Use the paint-bucket **Assign material** tool, then click a mesh in the viewport to paint it. You can also assign from the Outliner.
